MVK Films is pleased to announce the premiere screening of the documentary Blau Jeans at the 2009 Achtung Berlin Film Festival “New Berlin Film Award.”Achtung Berlin (www.achtungberlin.de) presents films, which were produced completely or partially in Berlin.

Blau Jeans (www.blaujeans.com) features interviews with Berlin luminaries 2raumwohnung, Sven Regener, Albrecht Mayer of Berlin Philharmonic, Richard Bernstein of The New York Times amongst others, set against the backdrop of the city of Berlin. The 49 minute documentary looks at Germany’s complex love-hate relationship for American pop culture and America in general. The screening times are below.

18.04. Saturday, 6.30 pm Cinema 2 Babylon Mitte (followed by Q & A led by Spiegel Intl. journalist)

21.04. Tuesday, 7.30 pm Cinema 2 Passage Neukölln

The Saturday 18.4 Babylon Blau Jeans premiere will be followed by a Q and A led by Spiegel International Online journalist David Gordon Smith. David will talk with a panel of guests from Blau Jeans including Eboy (www.eboy.com) Dr. Paul Stoop, formerly of American Academy (www.americanacademy.de) and additional pending Blau Jeans guests. It should be an interesting mix of people and discussion. The Achtung Berlin offers friends of MVK Films half price tickets to both Blau Jeans screenings too. Not bad in this recession!

I never imagined the amount of time and effort it would take to complete this documentary I started six years ago while living abroad in Berlin. I am excited for the year ahead.
