Biography
Independent producer, director, and writer Meaghan Kimball has a proven track record as both a television producer and filmmaker. Kimball has produced national television segments for the prime time History Channel series Man Moment Machine. What’s more, she’s produced national segments for Current TV, and Mobi TV.
Most notably, Kimball produced and directed her debut feature documentary Blau Jeans, which highlights the impact of American popular culture in Berlin and in turn Germany’s love-hate relationship with America. Featuring interviews with German cultural and academic experts such as Richard Bernstein of the New York Times, Albrecht Mayer of Berlin Philharmonic, Blau Jeans is both a timely analysis of the intersection of American culture around the globe and a visually dazzling film set against the backdrop of the streets of Berlin. Blau Jeans features a stunning soundtrack from BMG electronica recording artist Zwei Raum Wohnung. As a work in progress, Kimball was invited to screen her film at the IFP New York and Sunny Side of the Doc Marseilles, France. Finally, Blau Jeans is set to debut on the film festival circuit in late 2008.
Kimball has been in the business for close to a decade, laying a foundation of visually creative, work. She has directed national spots for brands like Valvoline Motor Oil and Rock the Vote, with agencies like Mc Cann World Group and GSD &M among others. She has directed A List celebrity talent like Claire Danes. She has received industry recognition being named in Adweek’s “Best Spot” list.
Kimball is now recognized by others in her field. She was honored as a finalist for the Alexander von Humboldt German Chancellor Scholarship. What’s more, in 2005 Kimball spoke at the Museum of Television and Radio Beverly Hills and the Sietar Cultural Conference in France.
After a ten-year stint in Los Angeles, New York, and Berlin, Kimball now resides in her native San Francisco. She holds an M.F.A. Screen writing from American Film Institute and B.F.A. Film and Television from New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
